I don't blog.

Jacob Negley said...

I, however, do blog. Being the only blogger at this present time, I think this means I automatically win the lap top bag. This is great news for me, seeing as I don't have one.

More to come.

After hearing the same type of answers, time and again, I do not quite understand how people could still be undecided and decide tonight. But at this point, it doesn't matter. Obama is leading my huge margins in the polls. McCain needs something - I don't know what - to turn the polls around. And whatever he is going to do, it isn't happening here.

I need y'all to same more stuff.

McCain is ridiculous, his ads are insane.

The American People do not need someone whose ads are so negative, but lets talk about the issues for once.

Jacob Negley said...

The candidates are a bit more... feisty tonight. McCain is dealing real blows. Obama is starting to make some counter punches, but nothing serious yet. Some of McCain's attacks aren't working very well (Joe the plumber), while others are working a bit better (shots taken at Obama about not opposing his party). I guess in the morning we'll see if he simply comes off as a strong, aggressive candidate... or a grumpy old man. At the moment I'm thinking it could be the former, though I'm obviously hoping for the latter.

say more stuff*

I think the Joe the plummer stuff is too much. We need someone named Mary, cause you know Mary exists too, not Joe.

Also, I need the American people to see that McCain is someone that is not going to bring about the change we need.

I mean, I am glad that the Cowboys lost, but that's the only thing I liked that he said.

Zane said...

I just wish we could hear something new. I'm incredibly sick of the way politics has become recently, with no real substance, vague issues, and stump speech after stump speech.

Anonymous said...

Shut up about Joe the plummer! You do NOT even know Joe the plummer's problems.

Zane said...

You really think Obama will do anything new? He'll create change? He's just like the rest of them..his stances are SO vague, he's going to play everything safe once he's in office just like he has during this whole race. Don't get me wrong, I'm voting for him, but I think the whole change thing is expecting more than what should really be expected. No offense. :-P

Debates are no longer debates these days, they are springboards for policies and defenses.

Jacob Negley said...

Obama getting excited (read: pissed) about health care differences and being called a terrorist. He needs to express his anger without coming off as too upset. He can’t lose his temper. Both Obama and McCain are trying to make each other lose their tempers... if it goes off perfectly, it could either seal the election or make it slightly more balanced. This debate is actually shaping up to be far more interesting than the first two. I suppose we’ll see.

McCain would speak out against people yelling about killing Obama and calling him a terrorist? Nothing but patriots? Wow. Just... wow.

McCain talking about Obama paling around with terrorists now. This could get interesting.

I don't think its going to be a GREAT HUGE CHANGE. But I do think its going to be a change in the right direction. Where America was and used to be and needs to be.

You can either play the game or get lost behind. That's politics in America, its a sad thing, and I agree with you there.

But I do think that Obama has been more honest than any other major party candidate in recent history. We need that honesty, we need that truth.

And these debates are not an accurate view of that.

When I say the CHANGE we need, I am talking about a change in the right direction. I am not so naive to believe that CHANGE means that the heavens will come down and that everything is going to change because of it.

Anonymous said...

Is anyone else blogging besides Zane, Jacob and I?

Zane said...

Well I can agree with that. Obama certainly used to come off as very honest and straightforward but, as I said, he seems to just have the change facade now, neither of them talk about real hardcore issues or make absolute stances. As for going in the direction that America needs to go in, that's certainly true, but when you've had Bush for eight years, could it really get worse? Haha

Anonymous said...

He sounds like Sarah Palin.

This is too much.

Zane said...

Apparently not.

Zane said...

Also, they present vague ideas, but I never hear concrete tangible ways in which they are going to implement or create these changes. I wish one of them would tell me exactly what they plan to do when they get in office.

Anonymous said...

Well, yes, after 8 years it will be better, but the thing with the Obama campaign is that it is calling upon people to be a part of this campaign, and to own it.

Never before has a campaign transformed the lives of my peers and gotten them involved like they had once been like before.

I didn't think I would give a damn about Obama after he became the Dem's candidate (I supported Clinton in the primaries), but I something changed this summer, that compelled me to support Senator Obama. I still believe he has been more honest than anyone running for office in a major political party in recent history.

Anonymous said...

Their plans aren't as out there as they should be, but I do think they can be clear as they can be. The game needs to be changed, not the players.

Zane said...

Agreed.

Jacob Negley said...

McCain trying to justify Palin is quite amusing. She has to be the worst pick in modern history. Huckabee would have fired up the base, come with a little bit of crazy and offensive baggage, but not alienated every reasonable independent.

Trying to attack Biden on his record is also kinda amusing - pointing out differences that you had on issues doesn't mean he's no longer credible, John.

Anonymous said...

John is all over the place. Sarah Palin is the worst person for VP and a 72 year old heartbeat away from the Presidency.

He has this annyoing ass old man sound too, just saying.

Zane said...

I have to agree with you completely that Palin was an abysmal choice. I'm honestly scared that she could be our president...scary.

Jacob Negley said...

In response to Zane, Obama IS a politician. I'm sorry he's not the messiah, but he is the most honest politician we've had in some time. Politicians can't be too specific in their plans before they're elected or they run the risk of being flip-flopper and what not, but if you go to the candidate's respective websites, you will see much more in depth plans than in their stump speeches. You can't expect them to mention every detail of a plan during a speech or debate.

Anonymous said...

Yeah. As someone who has no experience to be VP and President, and she is a part of a church that believes that they can 'pray the gay away' and believes that abortion is wrong in all cases. Her social policies scare the shit out of me, and her inexperience just make me not want to live in the US if she becomes President.

Anonymous said...

Drill Baby Drill is not going to work. We cannot use off-shore drilling to solve the problem that way. Sarah Palin and John McCain do not believe that global warming is a real problem, and it is, it clearly has been.

Anonymous said...

I would like to say that John McCain is probably the most out of touch person running for office besides the current President.

How can someone who believes that the fundamentals of the economy are strong improve the weak economy we have.

There are way too many topic changes here. STAY ON TOPIC.

Jacob Negley said...

Obama laughing at criticism now is great. It shows that he doesn't lose his temper, while at the same time subconsciously showing his sense of humor (seriously, this is Cognitive stuff).

Overall, the debate is getting tamer, and I don't see a clear winner yet, though I think McCain is doing far better than he did in the early debates.

Zane said...

What's up with the t-shirts on the table over there..?

Anonymous said...

McCain is doing better because he is doing better at making distractions, not at substance.

He has done better tonight than before, but the fat lady has not sang yet.

Anonymous said...

They are for each of us (the t-shirts). The Laptop Intiative gave us these shirts.

Zane said...

So do I get one even though I don't go here and I'm TECHNICALLY not a member...? :D

Anonymous said...

This socialism argument is stupid.

John McCain thinks that people can just go and workout and that businesses will award them for it.

Most low-income Americans cannot afford healthy foods, this is why McDonalds is still in business. Obesity is a problem, but McCain is not addressing it the way it should be. He is naive to think people will just go and work out because he says he will "reward" the folks that do.

As for this $5,000 credit, McCain taxes these benefits, dumbasses. Ugh.

Jacob Negley said...

Obama crushing on health care. McCain should give up on attacking him on it.

Also, yay for t-shirt!

Anonymous said...

McCain looks very pale tonight.

Jacob Negley said...

For anyone missing the debate right now, I reccomend you all read STA654's live blogging recap:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/search.php?searchid=5930889

Great stuff. Gotta plug 2+2, ya know? Even if I haven't played poker in 2-3 months.

You know, I hate whoever this Joe guy is, not him personally, but his name. I swear after this debate this Joe guy is going to be on CNN as "The Dude who was mentioned the most in a debate ever."

And all I have to say is "Senator Government", that is all.

I'm sorry I want judges who are sound and do not restrict women's rights. I cannot have Roe v Wade overturned, its a scary notion.

Anonymous said...

Comprehensive sex education is something our country needs. We all want to reduce abortions, but we are not PRO-ABORTION. Get it right John.

Jacob Negley said...

Obama has been running well in the last third or so. I'm leaning toward saying that Obama won the debate... perhaps it's more clear for first time viewers, and my thoughts are clouded by the first two debates.

Anonymous said...

This is my least favorite debate.

Anonymous said...

Vouchers are the problem, not the solution.

Anonymous said...

Ahh McCain....interest groups, he and his campaign are very special.

Jacob Negley said...

According to 2+2, Obama crushing late seems to be unanimous - including CNN lines showing the same thing. I'll be interested in hearing all the PR spin (on both sides) tonight and tomorrow morning. In any event, I don't see any huge movements in either direction after tonight's debate.

At this point in the race, it seems as though Obama is going to have to do something very bad in order to lose this election.

Anonymous said...

Shut up John! Let him talk! UGH!!! >:(

Anonymous said...

I think John needs a nap. Come on Barry!

Anonymous said...

I am glad Obama has gotten the last word, he is killing it.

Jacob Negley said...

No changes from my last post to post-debate. This debate definitely had a different feel from the last two, but other than hearing about Joe the Plumber 50 times, I don't think the American public was moved too much. Who knows, I very well may be wrong.

Also, I think I should win this laptop bag based simply on the fact that I linked to STA654's recaps. ;)
